On March 25, 2012 (Sunday) Claudio Colangelo and today (11th April, 2012: Thursday) another Italian hostage Paolo Bosusco released by Maoists. Both of these two Italian tourists were abducted by Maoists on March 14, 2012 from Odisha’s Kandhamal district. Paolo Boscusco (54 years), held hostage by the Odisha unit of the Naxals for the last 29 days, has been finally handed over by the Maoists to their mediator Dandapani Mohanty and some journalists in (Mohona village) the forest of tribal-dominated Kandhamal district bordering Gajapati and Ganjam.
Paolo Bosusco would now be taken to the Odaba village in Gajapati district where he would be handed over to the police. A doctor is slated to check Mr Bosusco in Odaba village. Bosusco told reporters “I am happy being a free man now. I am tired and need some rest.”
However, there was no word yet on BJD MLA Jhina Hikaka who was seized on 23 March, remains in custody of the Maoists.
Two Italian nationals Paolo Boscusco and Claudia Colangelo were taken hostage by the Naxals on March 14 from Surada Police Station area which comes under the Ganjam District bordering Kandhamal.The 61-year-old Colangelo, who was not keeping well, was released on March 25 and was handed over to a group of three journalists near Kandhamal.
